“I wanted to create a new easy summer look,” says Giorgio Armani international makeup artist, Linda Cantello. “We used Armani Neo Nude Glow Foundation in two different shades to add a healthy natural matte finish to the skin. Then Neo Nude Melting Colour Balm in shade #20 was swept over the eyelids.” To create luminosity, Cantello mixed pigments and bases from the mobile Armani Beauty Lab to create a bespoke high-shine Eye Tint, which acted as a gloss over the eyelid. And to finish the eyes off, she applied two coats of the Armani Eyes to Kill Classico Mascara, and enhanced lips with Armani Lip Power in various shades. If there’s one great beauty signifier of the aughties, it’s an unapologetic wash of fluorescent glitter. Blumarine took this nostalgic visual cue to the extreme at today’s show in Milan, where bodies and manes of hair alike were agleam above flowing ruffle tops, low-rise denim cutoffs, and embellished butterfly belts. In a nod to sultry Y2K beauty, “sexy, juicy, sun-kissed skin,” as makeup artist Inge Grognard called it, was enhanced with slicks of transparent MAC Lipglass on the lips and lids to light-catching effect. Even T-zones were shimmering, with Grognard blending in a few drops of “pearly glow” courtesy of Nyx Liquid Highlighter along the forehead and bridge of the nose for a touch of unexpected, light-reflecting shine. To give each model a twinkling, full-body veil, Grognard mixed loose MAC pearlescent glitter with lustrous body oils from Tom Ford and Anastasia Beverly Hills, brushing the sparkling pigments along the décolletage, shoulders, and down the arms. “It’s like they’re little diamonds dancing around the skin as they walk and move to the music,” said Grognard with a laugh.
Mirroring the makeup were prismatic, glitter-brushed manes crafted by hairstylist Anthony Turner. They, too, flashed and flickered under the runway lights, giving each model an ethereal, almost hologram-like glow as they strutted down the runway. From last season’s crystal butterfly adornments to this one’s no-holds-barred embrace of glitter, the Y2K redux is out in full force, head to toe. No doubt Gen Z is watching—and readying their pots of glitter. For spring/summer 2022, the Victoria Beckham beauty look was all about soft ’90s glam. Cue fresh faces, high-gloss lips and dreamy, lacquered lids. “Spring/summer 2022 beauty is modern, fresh and effortlessly gorgeous,” says make-up artist Lauren Parsons, who used a combination of the brand’s Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum and the Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer to create the perfect all-over sheen, while keeping the T-zone super matte. Inspiration for this season’s beauty look came from a single product: the brand’s newly launched Posh Gloss—a high-shine lip gloss worthy of Studio 54—which Parsons used across the eyes and lips while playing around with pops of coral-orange. “The collection is full of textures and pops of color,” says Parsons, “adding another texture to the beauty made complete sense.”
Palau likened the silhouette to the enduring reference that is Catherine Deneuve’s signature half-up style, but with a “more modern and futuristic” twist; the center panel of hair sculpted flat to the head shape, as opposed to teased up to voluminous effect. To achieve sleek texture, Palau coated lengths in Bumble and bumble hairspray before flat-ironing it one section at a time, and then used a flexible hair wax to tame fly-aways. A single gold barrette fastened in the back finished the look. Who better to showcase Versace’s latest take on timeless, va-va-voom hair than its official Gen Z muse? Remember: It’s Dua’s World—and we’re all just living in it! Celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary at Milan Fashion Week, Emporio Armani’s spring/summer 22 collection was an elegant and modern affair. There were cool denim separates and fun, flirty dresses, rendered in white, lavender and pale mint green, which were followed by a series of looks featuring bold floral prints and shimmering PVC discs. As for beauty, Mr. Armani requested that models’ skin was healthy and glowing but kept matte, with the only point of luminosity being around the eyes.
