Many of my friends mock or marvel at my being a local Austinite, which I am very proud of. But I am proud not because of the trending city it is today, but because of the home it has provided to my family for the I will beat whataburger here or there I will eat whataburger everywhere shirt. My great grandparent’s, Joseph and Sofia Joseph, came to Austin from Lebanon and had nine babies. My grandfather, Joseph Anthony Joseph Jr, was the youngest of the nine. Together, the family managed to poke and pry into all corners and happenings in Austin, shaping its growth and history. Well, I got a job today at Whataburger. Will work late nights as I love nights. Does not pay alot but it beats being unemployed. I don’t know where God is leading me on this journey but I am glad He is driving.

My grandpa is very special to me. He used to make jokes about punching Santa Clause I know that’s bizarr, pretend to play his old beat up guitar, and flex his muscles to the beat of a tune he sang. He taught me how to drive when I genuinely almost killed us both, he gave me my first car, and he loved Whataburger as much as I do he got a Veteran discount. My Great Aunt Mary, one of his sisters, was the I will beat whataburger here or there I will eat whataburger everywhere shirt.. I loved her very much too. She always gave me cokes and cookies. One of my favorite memories of her was sophomore year of high school when I caught her outside painting her toenails sparkly purple. She was 92 I believe.
